Tithing...what does it mean to you?
This book was not one I would choose on a normal basis. Although I am not religious, I found this book to be eye opening and gave me appreciation for those who believe in God, their Church, and the practice of tithing. This gave a detailed look into a man's life and the sacrafices he made for his belief in God. He believed in the followers, the church, and sacrafice by tithing. The bumps in the road were scary and the budget he and his wife had to live on were at times terrifying, but it came back to them as they had given when they were on their last dime. A very well written book with great narrative by the author. A real life experience of a tither who is only telling a story, not pushing his beliefs.

Life...the one thing we take for granted

Life in Spite of Me by Kristin Jane Anderson, published by Waterbrook Multnomah Books. Topics such as Let Me Die, Small and Powerless, and The Psych Ward are just a few of the many topics and personal issues that this young girl encountered at such a young age of 17. This book is sad, will make you feel an emotional connection with this girl, and at some points want to save her from herself. Her tragedy is shocking, but her perseverance is commendable. So many times the tears I had to with hold, the tightness in my throat for the helplessness this girl felt and experienced at a point in her life that should have been amazing , fun, and carefree. Will touch in a way you will not expect. A great read and a great motivation for counting our blessing each day and being thankful for the lives that we so easily take for granted.

Winter...is it over yet?

Although the white on the trees is good cover for the ugly brown grass underneath, the idea of Winter is now a past thought and we are ready for Spring. Yes, sunshine and green grass, blue skies and warm weather. Those temperatures a few weeks ago were a complete tease and we are all now over the cold and snow. I came to realize, though, its still February...in fact we have gotten snow storms in April!! So, I will not complain and brace myself through the rest of the cold, prepare for the rain and cold of March, and welcome, with open arms, the spring and warmth of April and May. On the otherhand, those of us who will complain in August when its hot, remember the cold and miserable conditions of thunderstorms to snow/ ice of Today!
